| Lake Tuggerah Cycleway |
Route: Tuggerah, The Entrance.
Distance: 17km.
The first day of the tour consists primarily of a pleasant cycle along the foreshores of Tuggerah Lake. From Tuggerah train station, head south and go over the railway overpass on Wyong Road. Continue along the dedicated cycleway that runs parallel to Wyong Road (on the south-western side). Immediately after crossing Ourimba Creek, take the cycleway that goes underneath Wyong Road and follow the cycle path to the lake. (The branching cycle paths may be confusing here: if in doubt, simply head to the lake along one of the quiet back roads. You will soon link up with the cycle way again.) The cycleway along the lake foreshore is easy to navigate and only occasionally shares the road with traffic.
There is plenty of accommodation at The Entrance and surrounding suburbs. A large supermarket and café strip may be found at the Entrance. Bateau Bay (about 6kms south) boasts a large shopping centre with major retail chains. If the weather is good, soak up some sun on the beach at The Entrance North.
