Tours, towns and roadsThe tours that have been compiled in this section indicate some of the touring possibilities in this region. Each one starts at Lithgow or Mount Victoria, which are both easily accessible by CityRail trains from Sydney. Information about specific towns and surrounding roads can be isolated using the left navigation menu. The map of the Grand Tour has waypoints indicating camping locations (caravan parks, official camping areas, sites for "rough" camping) throughout the region. Other tour maps merely indicate the route. Maps for routes between towns are more detailed and include waypoints for camping areas, shops and other points of interest. Such maps can be accessed via the left navigation menu or by clicking on the "Detailed Description" link for each tour. Each map was created using GPSies and come with a detailed altitude profile. For more information on using GPSies maps, click here. The table below gives statistics for each tour. The recommended number of days for each tour is a guide only, and assumes that cyclists are fit enough to cycle up and down hills for a good portion of the day. If you are looking for a flat cycle, then either cycle the route between Orange and Blayney or visit a different region.
